Teacher Attendance & Substitution

Tracking staff attendance, and building a cover plan for the teachers who are absent today.

Teacher attendance

This is staff attendance, and it's separate from the student attendance teachers take for their classes.

It shows up in two places on purpose:

  • Teachers → Attendance, for admins looking at the whole staff.
  • My Attendance, a top-level drawer item, so a teacher can check their own record without being given access to the rest of the Teachers section.

Both open the same report, and both can drill into a monthly table for a longer view.

Substitution

Teachers → Substitution answers a single daily question: who's absent, and who covers their lessons?

The page opens on today's absences and tells you the count directly — "all present", or how many teachers are absent today.

From there:

  • Auto-Generate proposes a cover plan for you.
  • Save Plan stores it; once a plan exists the same button becomes Update Plan, so you can regenerate or adjust and save again.
  • Print produces the plan as a printable sheet for the staff room.

Absences also distinguish an early departure from a full-day absence, so a teacher who leaves part-way through the day is covered only for the periods they actually miss.

Because cover depends on knowing who teaches what and when, substitution is only as good as the timetable behind it. If a proposed plan looks wrong, check the timetable and teacher constraints before assuming the suggestion is at fault.
