Entering and Publishing Exam Results

The difference between adding results, uploading results in bulk, change requests, and rankings.

Two ways to enter results

The Exams section offers two separate routes into the same result set, and it's easy to use the wrong one for what you're trying to do:

  • Add results — enter marks for one class/subject at a time, directly in the dashboard. Use this for small classes or last-minute corrections.
  • Upload results — bulk-import marks for a class/subject from a file. Use this for whole-class entry once marking is finished; it's much faster than typing marks in one at a time, but mistakes in the file affect the whole class at once, so double-check the file before uploading.

Change requests

If a result needs correcting after it's been entered (a marking error found later, a re-mark), use change requests rather than editing the result directly. This keeps a record of what was changed and why, which matters for handling parent queries about a grade later.

Rankings and term reports

Rankings and term reports are generated from whatever results currently exist — they won't reflect a class until results for that class/subject have actually been entered or uploaded. If a ranking looks incomplete, check whether every subject's results have been entered yet before assuming the ranking calculation is wrong.

Who sees this

Teachers typically use add/upload results for their own classes; rankings, term reports, and cross-class analytics are more commonly used by school admins reviewing a whole class or year group.
