Creating a parent account with your child's Student ID, verifying by SMS or email, and setting your password.

You need two things the school already holds:
ADV001).Registration matches against those records. It can't create a parent who isn't already on file, so if verification fails the first thing to check is whether the school has your current number or address — not whether you typed the code correctly.
From the login screen, choose to register, then:
The code is six digits. On the verification screen:
Once the code is accepted you choose a password. It must be at least 8 characters, and you enter it twice so a typo can't lock you out of the account you're creating.
After that you're signed in.
Resetting an existing password runs through the same verify-then-set-a-password steps, with one difference at the start: instead of picking a delivery channel, you identify yourself by Username, Student ID or Email, and the code goes to the contact details already on file for that account.
The confirmation deliberately says only that if an account exists, a code has been sent — it won't tell you whether the identifier you typed was recognised, so nobody can use the reset screen to discover which accounts exist. If no code arrives, check the identifier with the school rather than assuming the message was lost.
The same 8-character minimum applies to the new password, and you finish back at the login screen to sign in with it.
