Writing Reports

Building a weekly or monthly report from recorded activities, including the generated first draft.

Starting a report

Reports → New report, then pick the child. Only children in your class are offered — if the list comes back empty, that's a class-assignment problem rather than a missing report.

Then choose the shape of the report:

  • Weekly or Monthly.
  • The period it covers.

The generated draft

Generate draft writes a first version for you from the activities already recorded for that child in that period. This is why recording activities as you go matters: the draft is only as good as what's there to draw on, and a period with nothing logged produces very little.

You can also skip generation entirely and write from scratch, and you can add sections to structure the report however your setting prefers.

Draft or published

Two separate buttons, and the difference matters:

  • Save draft — keeps your work, stays private to staff. Come back and finish it later.
  • Publish — releases the report to the parent.

Save a draft whenever you're interrupted. Publish only when the report is genuinely ready, since publishing is what makes it visible outside the staff room.
